As the season comes
closer where many enterprises employ most of their new workforce, the Ministry of Labor has decided to provide guidance to
state-owned enterprises and government subsidiaries (211), financial institutions (114), major corporations and other establishments
to recruit and employ new workers without gender discrimination.
The Ministry will provide guidelines for gender discrimination
assessment in recruitment and employment advertisements for 26 enterprises including media enterprises, job information newspapers,
free newspaper publishers, and has requested for their cooperation in assuring that there will be no gender discriminatory
contents in employment advertisements.
Also, 46 regional labor offices have decided to provide administrative guidelines
to major local enterprises to stop gender discrimination in the recruitment and employment process. Local officials will also
provide guidelines to local newspapers, local private broadcasting stations, and wired broadcasting stations to prevent gender
discriminatory contents from appearing in employment advertisements.
Last year, the Ministry of Labor assessed the
actual conditions of equality of employment achievement, and inspected reported cases in various industries such as food,
lodging, and telecommunications. The Ministry found 28 cases of discrimination in recruitment and employment processes, and
took legal action against 3 cases, and ordered readjustments or gave warning to the other cases.
