FROM the moment I started knowing the Filipino character by reading history and developing relationships
with its citizens, my belief in the Filipinos' capability to rise up from the morass that it's country is presently in began.
I strongly feel that in the future I will see the Philippines as a strong and united nation taking care of its citizenry the
way a mother country should.
I believe Filipinos abroad or their children shall one day come back home and calim their patrimony.
I believe that like the children of Israel long long ago, Divine Providence will someday choose a leader who can through his
own examples lead Filipinos to cleanse the country from the country from those who practice graft and corruption, nepotism
and other destructive values that hinder the nation to move forward. I believe that one day Filipinos will reach political
maturity and vote into power national leaders who have the integrity and the capability to assume political responsibilities
required by their offices. I believe that in the future Filipinos will set up effective and efficient institutions that will,
aside from penalizing the corrupt and the inefficient people in the government bureaucracy, attract local and freign investors
to set up businesses in the country. I believe that most Filipinos will realize the need to go back to its high moral and
social values that made other countries looked upward to it as a model. I BELIEVE IN THE PHILIPPINES!
however, Filipinos must start soon and somewhere! That's why for the past issues I have been telling
Pinoy Balita (PB) readers to start this change in Korea. Let the spirit of change be incalculated in the minds of Filipino
individual workers, their groups and associations here and spread like virus in the minds of other OFWs all over the world
then later in their dependents' in the Philippines.
Nevertheless, changes especially those that require shift in values need to be started and practiced
in the hearts and minds of individuals. UPAK, to be frank about it, donot have the experience nor the training now to immediately
do this, so we will coordinate with and support people and institutions who are experts on these activities but who are short-handed
to fulfill their noble objectives. We will help them set up events such as values seminars and training for OFWs here in Korea
and their dependents in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Pinoy Balita will not only help in information dissemination but also in printing articles
that will enhance the values and skills of its readers.
Critical among the activities suggested above will be the Filipinos belief in themselves - BELIEF
in their capability to institute changes in themselves and their countrymen back home. They must look at other countries like
Japan and more recently Vietnam which both have risen from ravages of war. You must declare war against negative values and
your battlecry should be, "If others can, Filipinos MUST!!"
UPAK WILL ALWAYS BE THERE TO SUPPORT YOU!
